As if gas prices were not enough to drive any average American insane, Edmunds.com, whom I seldom read, posted their thoughts about hybrid cars. I drive a 2002 Ford Escape and I was very interested in the Ford Escape Hybrid. The Escape Hybrid was under a lot of microscopes and it was a big move for Ford to come out with a SUV hybrid. I got an SUV to be the grocery getter and to haul four people comfortabably.

The thought of getting a hybrid has always been in my head when I get about 275 miles on a tank of gas that costs $45 dollars now. Edmunds is respected by a lot and the funny thing about the average American is they belive anything that they read in the newspaper or on the Internet. I do not fall into that catagory but I despise the media for making sensational news stories just to get people to watch. I can now say the same as Edmunds.

They do not do an apples to apples comparison. They compared apples to pomegranates. Looks like an apple, smells like an apple, but it is not an apple. I agree with John Gartner and have to say they shouold compare owning a Hybrid with owning a Non-Hybrid of the same model. If gas prices do indeed hit $4 a gallon by the end of the year, then I will be looking at a hybrid seriously for my next car.

I will also share a few of my favorite bookmarks with blog posts and this was given to me by Brian S. in California. The Hybrid Center lists incentives for people to buy a car with both a federal tax credit and other items like HOV lane restrictions. I would read up on hybrids and car in general if you are in the market.
