eBay must be out of their minds. The new checkout system Google added is a great site for buyers and it is good for sellers. They charge less than PayPal for anyone selling products as long as you use AdWords (which is a bargin since you are paying for the right to advertise AND sell an item and pay for the transaction through the advertisment of that item. Google should remove eBay from its PageRank system altogether and see how that works out!
Google's Payment Policy
If you're an AdWords advertiser, you are eligible for free transaction processing for some or all of your Google Checkout sales each month. For every $1 you spend on AdWords each month, you can process $10 in sales the following month for free through Google Checkout.
That is a great offer if you ask me. I think the big problem is eBay is trying to protect their piece of the pie. Google is scaring everyone in the IT industry by providing smart solutions to problems instead of costly and stupid solutions.
Sure I know people are addicted to eBay and by addicted I mean the buy everything on it even when it is stupid to do so. Take say, a 50 inch plasma TV. Who's truck did it fall off of? It was probably dropped in shipping. At least with a store they can sell it and if anything is wrong with it get it replaced no questions asked. With eBay you have to email the guy, get permission, tell them what is up, not rip their head off for it, repack it, ship it back and wait for a refund. Wow, for BestBuy it is hey I want this, okay, ring rin, delivery dudes.
One of my friends was even hit by the whole selling asstacular knockoffs for a USK key. It was supposed to be A Sandisk Cruiser, he bought it, noticed it did not work, sent it to Sandisk, they checked it out, told him it was fake, sent it back to him, he did the whole fraud thing and got nothing back. Wow, awesome deal there don't you think. Granted he is only out like $100 but still it was fraud. This is the stuff the Government should be trying to prevent, not the stupid broadcast flag or the digital revolution that is happening.
The only thing that is true in the world is this... Companies want your money and they will do anything to get it, even if it means making you pay more money for a crappy solution. Whatever makes the bottom line bigger is their salvation.
